Business, Tax & Financial

Tax Planning & Compliance.

Pay the tax you owe — not the tax you overlooked.

Tax planning fails when the structure is too aggressive to survive an audit, or too cautious to be worth having. We build positions that hold up when ZIMRA looks at them, and we recover the allowances and reliefs most businesses leave on the table.

The people half of the practice matters here too. Remuneration and payroll structuring is where tax planning meets workforce cost, and because we run both analyses on the same data, a tax-efficient package is also one the establishment plan can afford.

Sound familiar?

You'll recognise this if

  • A ZIMRA query has arrived and nobody is sure the position it questions was ever documented
  • QPD estimates are guesswork, and the penalties and interest that follow are not
  • Renewing the ITF263 is a scramble every time a tender needs it
  • PAYE, VAT and withholding returns go out on time, but nobody has reconciled what they add up to
  • You suspect an allowance or relief would cut the bill, but nobody has ever looked properly

FAQ

Questions we get asked

What does a tax compliance service cover?

Everything that keeps you in good standing with ZIMRA: annual corporate income tax returns (ITF12C), quarterly payment dates, PAYE and its annual reconciliation, VAT, withholding taxes, capital gains tax, statutory contributions such as NSSA and ZIMDEF, and keeping a valid tax clearance (ITF263) in place. The point is that none of it arrives as a surprise.

Can you deal with ZIMRA on our behalf?

Yes. As registered tax agents we act as your authorised representative: managing audits and verification queries, lodging objections, negotiating assessments and applying for remission of penalties and interest. You stay informed; the correspondence stops landing on your desk.

How do you reduce a tax bill lawfully?

Mostly by claiming what the law already allows. Capital allowances such as the Special Initial Allowance, tax-efficient remuneration structuring, fiscal incentives and sector reliefs go unclaimed far more often than aggressive structures go wrong. Where structuring is warranted, we build positions designed to survive an audit, not just to look good in the year they are set up.

What is an ITF263, and why does ours keep lapsing?

The ITF263 is the tax clearance certificate that tenders, banks and larger customers ask for. It lapses when any tax head falls behind, which is why it tends to fail at the worst moment. We keep the underlying obligations current so the certificate renews as routine rather than rescue.

We have fallen behind. Where do we start?

With a tax health check to size the exposure, then a regularisation plan. Zimbabwe’s voluntary disclosure arrangements exist for exactly this situation, and approaching ZIMRA with a documented position is materially cheaper than waiting to be found. We have yet to see a backlog that was improved by leaving it longer.

Who leads this work?

Blessing Zhou CA(SA), a chartered accountant whose background spans taxation, corporate finance and financial planning and analysis, supported by the firm’s registered tax agent capability.
